GWU Pledges sympathy with doctors attacked on Thursday

Malta Independent Saturday, 10 July 2004, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

The union expressed its sympathy with the Medical Association of Malta (MAM) and the doctors who suffered from this assault. Incidents like this cannot be tolerated, the statement said, and should be condemned without reserve, especially in cases like these when the people assaulted are carrying out their job.

The MAM had held a press conference on Thursday afternoon in which it said that if the issues it had brought up some three months ago were not resolved quickly, they will take whatever measures are necessary to address the lack of response.

In its statement issued later in the afternoon, the association highlighted the issues that were still pending, among which was the fact that a meeting it had called with the “Minister concerned” on a number of medico-legal issues had not yet materialised.

The Minister referred to was not the Health Minister but the Justice and Home affairs Minister.
