Malta Independent Saturday, 10 July 2004, 00:00 Last update: about 15 years ago

The Department urged everyone, especially children, the elderly and the sick, to stay indoors between 10am and 4pm. If people do need to be outdoors, they should wear light clothing and a hat. People are also urged to drink plenty of fresh water and to keep cool by taking showers and using ventilation systems. The Department also warned against eating large meals and recommended eating salads and fruit at the hottest times of day.

If anyone runs a fever, the advice of a polyclinic or family doctor should be sought immediately.
