The handbook, presented by Joseph Muscat Drago of the Malta Tourism Authority, addresses small and independent operators in particular. It was written to enhance good human resource management and development practices within tourism establishments such as, hotels, restaurants, travel agencies and diving schools.

It is written in a straightforward manner to encourage busy managers to use it during selection and recruitment and consult it on safety, training and health issues.

On being presented with the handbook, Dr Zammit Dimech said publications such as this should be encouraged as they help establishments provide a better service.

Human resources are Malta’s most important resource, he said, and a motivated workforce gives excellent results.
