A police report said the hooded man, armed with a weapon, ran out of a parked car to stop a vehicle which was being driven by a 71-year-old man from St Paul’s Bay.
The man had just deposited some money in the bank.
The robber made off with the man’s pouch, but it could not be established whether it still had any money in it.
A police source said the man may have escaped with an empty pouch.
The 71-year-old suffered slight injuries in the hold-up, the police report said.
Following the robbery, the police intercepted two men who are helping them in the investigations.
Both are expected to be arraigned in court in the next few days.
The investigations are being carried out by the police Criminal Investigations Department with the help of the Qawra police station.
