According to an official police statement, one of the men threw a package out of the window as soon as they saw the police approaching. When the police retrieved it, they saw that it was in fact 1.5 kilogrammes of cannabis resin.

The three men were arrested and the police established that the 36-year-old man and 16-year-old son were from Zejtun, while the other was a 21-year-old from Hamrun. The police also said that a substantial amount of cash had been found on one of the men.

The police also searched their houses and found various drug related paraphernalia in both residences. Police inspector Norbert Ciappara is investigating. The three men are expected to appear in court in the coming days.
