Four teams of six players each will be competing together underwater playing draughts for 50 hours.
During the event people are encouraged to join in for a taster dive or just support the players. A big screen will be mounted at Marsascala square to show what is happening at the diving site.
Eden Fm, the foundation’s radio station, will be marking the occasion by doing a live broadcast from the same place. During the last hour of the marathon, a variety programme will take place.
This will be presented by Romilda Zarb.
People can make their donations by mobile: send a blank SMS to 5061-7301 for Lm1, 5061-7902 for Lm2 and 5061-8803 for Lm3.
Donations may also be made at the venue.
All those making a donation are eligible to win a weekend break for two at the Jerma Palace Hotel.
The marathon is taking place at the Seahorse Diving Club Marsascala (Behind the Jerma Palace Hotel). It will start at 7pm on Friday and will come to an end on Sunday at 9pm.
Taster dives can be made for only Lm3.30. All the money collected during this activity will help The Eden Foundation to raise the much needed funds to continue the work started 11 years ago with children with mental disabilities.
