AD’s environment and rural affairs spokesman Mark Causon called for the zoning of industrial activities and plants to avoid health and safety risks for residents. “It is important that plant related to industrial activities that cause health and environmental problems are gradually re-located to industrial areas which should be embellished and rendered safe for all those working in these plants.”
AD also called on Enemalta to tackle the problem of the pollution of underlying rock with oil residues. “This is a source of great inconvenience and a health risk for Birzebbuga residents. Enemalta and the government cannot absolve themselves of this problem,” he said.
