I was about six or perhaps seven when I heard and saw a flute being played for the first time during one Sunday Mass. It must have been love at first sight because from that moment on, the passion for the flute, which made music become so much part of my life, never died. I also studied the church organ for some six years but I decided to concentrate more on the flute.

At 12 I gave my first public performance. It was at a Malta Cultural Institute concert with the Haydn Flute Trio. Since then I have performed at lunchtime concerts, MCI concerts, on private occasions and a variety of other events. I was also a member of the Maltese Youth Orchestra at the Catholic Institute.

My first successful and most satisfying performance as a soloist, was during a concert held at St John's Co Cathedral in Valletta. I was invited by the St Edmund's School Choir as a special guest, during their Malta tour in May 2001. Following this occasion, the St Edmund's choir invited me over to Portsmouth to perform during one of their concerts in their own Cathedral.

Another interesting part of my musical life started when I began organizing concerts, together with friends of mine, who I consider to be among the best musicians on the island. The first concert was held at St John's Co Cathedral in Valletta. The concert was dedicated to the sacred music of J.S. Bach. Some 600 people filled St John's on that occasion.

The second concert, with the same group of talented musicians, was held in the beautiful Salon of the Archaeology Museum in Valletta. This concert was dedicated to 19th and 20th century music inspired by literature. Though so much work and money is required to organize such events, I still look forward to organizing other concerts. We have plenty of ideas but raising the necessary funds is difficult.

I am also very interested in choir conducting. I have just been appointed conductor of the New choral singers. In August I am attending a course in choir conducting at Hereford. I find myself really comfortable conducting. Moreover I have been told that I have an aptitude for it.

My favourite repertoire is and will always be Baroque music. I must also say that I have a special inclination and love for sacred choral music. Whenever I listen or play such music I get a special thrill. But Baroque is not the only music to which I listen. Lately my tastes in music are broadening and I have been working on 19th and 20th century music which has its own particular aura and magic.

I am constantly striving to obtain high standards in my performances.
