To mark this milestone, Melita chief executive officer Joseph R. Aquilina yesterday presented Mr Calleja with a plasma 42” screen and a Home Theatre system at a reception at Melita’s headquarters in Mriehel. Kevin Borg, head of Customer Operations and Michele Dandria, head of TV Programming, were also present.
Mr Calleja, 53, a welder deployed with Gudja local council and father of two, became the 100,000th customer by taking up a three-month subscription of the Family Channel and Movie Channel. Melita has also awarded Mr Calleja a complementary 12-month package of Melita’s full range of channel line-ups, including Melita’s premium Movie and Sports Channels, once the introductory subscription expires.
Mr Calleja said he became a new Melita customer for a number of reasons. “We were constantly having problems getting decent TV reception using our antenna. We also have two teenagers who have been asking us to switch to Melita to receive the wide range of quality programmes that Cable offers. I thought the deal on the Family and Movie Channels was good value for money,” said Mr Calleja. “I’m hoping that the Movie Channel line up, together with the programmes on the Family Channel, will keep everyone at home happy now.”
Mr Aquilina said that attaining the 100,000th customer was a major achievement for Melita Cable. “We believe Melita continues to provide Cable TV customers with compelling content,” he added. To commemorate the occasion, Mr Aquilina said Melita was pleased to announce that it was extending the special offer taken up by Mr Calleja to the end of July.
Melita Cable plc was set up in June 1991 and welcomed its first customer in July 1992. The company operates from the Gasan Centre in Mriehel.
