The movement explained that it is in favour of gay rights and against all forms of discrimination on sexual orientation.
“Moviment Graffitti strongly appeals for the introduction of clear anti-discrimination legislation aimed at curtailing discrimination based on sexual orientation. Such legislation should cover employment, education, housing and access to goods and services. Sexual orientation should clearly form part of the section regarding discriminatory treatment contained in the new Employment and Industrial Relations Act. In this regard, one should note that recent surveys have shown that various gay people have indicated that they have been victims of forms of violence such as harassment, degrading treatment and bullying, even at work, because of their lifestyle.
“We appeal to all progressive organisations and individuals to clearly support legislation for the recognition of same-sex partnerships. As tax-payers, gays and lesbians should be entitled to the same rights enjoyed by other citizens and should not be discriminated against because of their lifestyle.”
