Unless one owns property in Gozo, renting accomodation can be quite expensive. Prices range from Lm30 to over Lm80 a night during the peak season. Extras such as an outdoor swimming pool, indoor swimming pool, air-conditioning or fireplace all add substantially to the bill. Booking a farmhouse becomes a nightmare if one leaves it for too long, and it is well-nigh impossible to find one in August unless there is a cancellation. Regulars who always hire the same property find that prices increase from one year to the next due to renovations carried out during the winter. Although eating out in Gozo is generally cheaper than in Malta, regular visitors have noted an increase in prices. Apart from the sporadic dance parties organised on Fridays, weekends are extremely quiet and restaurants are very rarely busy after 11pm. Gozo Channel fares went up on 1 June from Lm1.75 to Lm2, and from Lm5.75 for car and driver to Lm6.25.

One Gozo resident complained that as a result of the influx of Maltese visitors during the St Marija period, pollution increases considerably. Other residents complain about the noise and music late into the night. In certain areas parking is a problem, as most Maltese are not used to the park and display cards in restricted areas and more often than not are issued with a ticket. Some Maltese noted that certain items suddenly become more expensive when the shopowner realises they are Maltese.

On the other hand, Gozo is always an enjoyable experience and people look forward to their holiday.
