The ministry urged the farmers who are not yet members of a producers association to join one next season so they will be eligible for EU subsidies.

The ministry is giving this sector special attention. Italian experts recently visited Malta to help the product quality improve further. In its efforts to push this sector forward, the ministry claimed it always prioritised the farmers’ interests, in spite of any difficulties it may have come across.
