In January of this year, congressman Lantos became the first US congressman to visit Libya following its decision to give up its weapons of mass destruction programmes. A native of Hungary, Congressman Lantos is the only Holocaust survivor ever to serve in the US Congress, where he has represented the 12th district of California since 1981. This district includes the town of Millbrae, known for its concentration of Maltese residents, and with a sister-city relationship with Mosta.
