He said it was a satisfaction for the union to see that political parties and other organisations are now looking ahead, and have made statements about their visions for the future in writing. “No longer rhetoric but, position written black on white.”

Sustainability, competitiveness and productivity, Mr Vella said, are becoming key features in every report.

They are very important terms upon which there is need for a wide consensus, over their meaning, among all social partners, making reference to the social pact currently being discussed at the Malta Council for Social and Economic Development.
