Kenneth Caruana, 23 from Qormi admitted stealing a bag belonging to Henrik Crone and Beatrice Karlsson, a Swedish couple.

The bag contained photography equipment, books and other items, many of which were returned to their rightful owners.

Caruana, who has a drug problem, also admitted relapsing in view of previous convictions. Prosecuting inspector Carmelo Magri told the court the accused cooperated with police over the course of the investigation and was put on probation for three months.

The court was presided over by Magistrate Michael Mallia while Dr Gianella Caruana Curran appeared for the accused.
