This has turned out to be
a seasonal summer dilemma as beachgoers continue to use the perimeter of the reserve as a litter dump and a public convenience.
While road cleaners clean the beach side of the road on a daily basis, the reserve side of the road seems to fall under nobody’s responsibility.
Regular clean-ups by BirdLife Malta volunteers are just not enough to cope with the ever increasing amount of litter.
Several tourists visiting the nature reserve comment and complain about the state of this stretch of land.
BirdLife Malta appeals to the competent authorities to ensure that this area is regularly cleaned up so this touristic area that is so popular with locals and particularly tourists, will not leave a negative impression of our country.
