Dr Zammit Dimech is having meetings with his Egyptian counterpart Ahmed El-Maghraby,

The idea is to market Malta, Cairo and another country such as Italy together, as a package holiday, for tourists from destinations such as the United States and China. The ministers are also exploring cooperation possibilities in niche tourism areas such as diving and Malta’s participation in new tourism initiatives being pursued in Egypt.

Dr Zammit Dimech was invited by the Egyptian tourism minister for the opening of the Mediterranean Travel Fair, which was opened by the Egyptian Prime Minister Atef Abeid on Tuesday. An offer for Malta to participate as the theme country in next year’s fair is also being discussed.
