Mr Casa was appointed to the post by the European People’s Party group yesterday.

The fisheries fund will be working towards four main goals: the protection of the maritime environment, the processing and selling of fish and aquaculture products, the measures that work toward the common good and the setting up sustainable coastal fishing.

The fund aims at reducing bureaucracy and becoming more accessible. Millions of Euros will be at the committee’s disposal, one-third of which should be designated to new EU members.
