Malta Independent Tuesday, 21 September 2004, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

The conference, organised by the Strategic Dialogue Centre of the Netanya College in Israel in cooperation with Medbridge Strategy Centre is due to be held in Paris between today and tomorrow.

Entitled Europe and the Middle East – from a problematic dialogue towards a better future, the objective of the conference is to move towards a future of understanding and dialogue between Europe and the Middle East.

The misconception often stems from lack of information and prejudice. The conference will attempt to narrow psychological, political, cultural and social gaps that lie at the heart of the dismal state of Middle East-European relations.

During workshops themes like the differences in culture and whether economic exchange can reduce the incomprehension between Israel and its Arab neighbours will be discussed.

Former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak and Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Abu Allah will be among the participants.
