Although the day was filled with activities for the party faithful, the main drive was to gather funds. By 4pm, the MLP had already gathered Lm7,000. By 8pm, that figure had more than doubled to Lm15,000. The main activities were held in the MLP conference hall, at the rear of the headquarters.

Various MLP personalities including leader Alfred Sant, secretary general Jason Micallef and president Stefan Zrinzo manned the phones and took donations from supporters. The Labour leader also sat and took details of party members, young and old, who went to the headquarters to give a donation. By 11.30pm, the party had raised a total of Lm51,377, although the MLP had only set a target of Lm25,000.
