A man who was caught on camera allegedly breaking off a door-knocker from a residence in Sliema has been arrested, Home Affairs Minister Glenn Bedingfield said.

The man is currently being investigated over an alleged theft and damage caused to a residence in Ta' Sliema.

Sliema mayor John Pillow had earlier appealed for information after publishing CCTV footage of the incident on Facebook.

The footage showed a man approaching the door of a residence in Dingli Street and looking up at the entrance. He is then seen touching one of the door-knockers before moving towards the second one, which he allegedly breaks off.

The investigation is ongoing.
