Malta Independent Thursday, 30 September 2004, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

The police issued a statement about the incident and said that while the 31-year-old motorcyclist was injured, he was not on the critical list.Preliminary police investigations established that a Peugeot 106 was driving down the road in question, when the passenger realised that his door was not properly closed. He proceeded to open the door to shut it properly, but a motorcycle was gearing up behind the car. The motorcyclist could not avoid the door and hit it. The motorcycle then swerved into the path of a Maruti and the two vehicles collided. An ambulance was called to the scene and rushed the motorcyclist to hospital, where doctors said his condition, while serious, was not life threatening. Paola district police are investigating.
