During the proceedings, the court heard how Buhagiar took over a property that used to be a foreign exchange bureau. She decided to leave the door sign up and continued to use the former company’s invoices. The police said that the day after she was spoken to, the sign was removed and the invoices were no longer used.
The court, presided over by magistrate Abigail Lofaro, sentenced Buhagiar to 12 months imprisonment, suspended for 18 months
