Opinjonisti To start today on Net TV

Malta Independent Thursday, 7 October 2004, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

The new show is called Opinjonisti. As to be expected Opinjonisti will deal with controversial subjects. It will have two panels: The first panel will be made up of opinion writers who will have expressed themselves on a particular subject. The second panel will be made up of people who will be involved directly in the subject being discussed. These will confront other members on their own panel who may disagree with them as well as with the opinion writers.

Opinjonisti is not open to all opinion writers. It is open only to those opinion writers who will be prepared to expose their ideas in front of the wide audience of television and who will be ready to confront their views with those of other opinion writers who may disagree with them. Opinjonisti will also have the comfort of a number of pre-recorded interviews.

The first programme, to be broadcast on Net Television today at 8.30pm will deal with the setting up of golf courses in Malta.

For the first show, Joe Grima who will be presenting the programme, has also interviewed Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi, Minister of the Environment George Pullicino, Minister for Tourism Francis Zammit Dimech, the mayor of Mdina Peter Sant Manduca and the chairman of Mepa. On the opinionmakers’ side there will be Antoine Vella, an Agriculturist, Alan Deidun from the Front Kontra l-Golf Kors, Francis Fabri, mayor of Rabat and Paul Abela, from the GRTU, a former mayor of Swieqi.

Opinjonisti will be shown on Thursdays 8.30pm on Net TV from today. The two-and-a-half-hour show is presented and produced by Joe Grima
