The latest to give this disjointed image were the tourism authorities, which are looking forward to an increase of 412 beds in the five-star hotel category, 2,012 in the four-star and 130 in the three-star through 16 hotel construction and extension projects. Why is there a need for more beds, despite the fact that tourism has declined over the last three years and the tourism product is collapsing due to generalised environmental degradation and consumer-unfriendly services, the NGO asked.
It is about time that the tourism authorities give ecotourism, agrotourism and nature tourism the priority they deserve to boost our tourism product.
