GWU Warns of industrial action at Maltapost

Malta Independent Friday, 8 October 2004, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

The GWU said the management has ignored the union’s complaints regarding the heavy workload faced by Maltapost counter employees since certain operations have been moved to other hubs.

Since the operations had been moved, it said, counter workers have been left alone without the necessary back-up to ensure that they can carry out their duties efficiently. This has placed a lot of stress on the workers to keep up with the workload.

The union also said that some of the measures which were to have been introduced to ease the workload were only applied for a couple of days, while other measures had not been implemented at all.

Therefore, the union said that it will be ordering these employees to take industrial action on Monday unless the situation changes.
