The reason often given for this omission was that it was difficult to find women willing to discuss

specific technical subjects. The Commission said it maintained a database of women with particular areas of expertise and has offered to assist interested parties by providing the names of these women, once they have been approached and have given their consent.

The NCPE has sent a letter to this effect to the directors of media production houses and to the executive directors of programming at TV and radio stations

NCPE was set up at the beginning of this year. Its terms of reference include identifying, establishing and updating all policies directly or indirectly related to issues of equality between men and women.
