Young Enterprise Malta Launches new website

Malta Independent Friday, 8 October 2004, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

In order to encourage new students to take part in the 16th HSBC Young Enterprise programme, YEM is currently conducting presentations at all post secondary schools. Teams wishing to take part in this year’s programme need to submit their applications online at www.youngenterprise.org.mt. by 14 October 2004.

The programme will subsequently be officially launched on 19 October with an introductory meeting for all participants to be held at the Hilton Hotel in St Julian’s. The Young Enterprise Take-Off weekend will take place at Hal Ferh from 22 to 24 October.

“Young Enterprise Malta is all set for another exciting year,” said YEM chief executive officer Rachelle Tabone.

“The response from first year sixth formers has, so far, been excellent and we are all looking forward to helping the teams taking part to make the most out of this experience. Preparations for this year’s launch and take-off weekend are in place and by the end of this month all the teams will have started their nine month adventure of running their own business and learning by doing,” she said.

Young Enterprise aims to give students a practical, hands-on, business experience which bridges the gap between the class room and the business world while constantly promoting the principal of learning by doing. Students participating in the company programme will set up and run their own company, elect a board of directors, raise share capital, and market and finance a product or service of their own choice.

At the end of the programme teams present a report and their accounts to the judging panel and shareholders.

The winner of the HSBC Company of the Year competition then goes on to represent Malta in that year’s Junior Achievement Young Enterprise Europe Company competition.

Further details about the HSBC Young Enterprise Company programme can be obtained by calling YEM on 2124-4991 or by sending an email to rtabone@youngenterprise. org.mt
