The incident took place at around 6.30pm yesterday evening.

It is not understood how the fight started or whether it broke out following a traffic accident.

The police said the fight broke out between two Maltese men and an Arab man. During the fight one of the Maltese men, a 54-year-old from Mosta, received a blow to his head with a hard object.

An ambulance was called on scene and rushed the man to St Luke’s Hospital where he was found to be in serious condition, due to head injuries he had sustained.

Hamrun district police are investigating the incident.
