Edward Laurence Hughes, 27, was charged yesterday with verbally threatening and attacking three police officers in Kalkara and Vittoriosa at around 2am last Sunday.

He pleaded not guilty to all the charges against him, including disobeying police orders, being drunk in public, driving recklessly and breaching the peace by shouting and blaspheming.

Presiding magistrate Giovanni Grixti granted the accused bail against a Lm1,000 personal guarantee.

Inspector Alfred Mallia prosecuted while Dr Mark Mifsud Cutajar appeared for Mr Hughes.
