Van Osten’s Maltese wife, 39-year-old Lorna Agius, living in Mason City, was convicted for aiding Van Osten's failure to appear and was sentenced to 21 months in prison.
Meanwhile, Chief Magistrate Judge John A. Jarvey has scheduled Van Osten's trial for 3 January.
If convicted, the man faces from five to 40 years in prison and up to a $2 million fine. If in addition to a drug offence, he is also found guilty of possessing firearms he could get a mandatory five years in prison in addition to any other sentence.
