J&B Rare 2005 Calendar

Malta Independent Sunday, 26 December 2004, 00:00 Last update: about 10 years ago

Poxx Bar (Club Lounge) St Julian’s was the venue for the recent launch of the J&B Rare 2005 calendar. This is the fifth edition of the locally produced calendar, which over the years has featured some of Malta’s top models. For 2005 the “J&B. Better together” theme continues, but with a twist… This year’s version features gorgeous girls, as you would expect, who are also famous for their singing talent. The line up includes: Fiona, Diane Micallef, Marvic Lewis aka Indigo, Nadine Axisa, Ali & Lis and Miriam Christine. These stars were invited to participate in the calendar since they exude energy, vibrancy and sophistication, all qualities found in J&B Rare Scotch Whisky. As with previous editions, the cover girl was selected during the J&B Rare Calendar Choice competition, and this year’s winner, Erika Rossignaud, was the focus of attention at the launch party.

Guests gathered for the reception where the calendar was launched in an unusual manner. Each participant was invited to unveil her picture and being divas of the local musical scene, they each autographed it. The singers were pleasantly surprised with the results since they were pictured in unusual surroundings. Miriam Christine posed in the Manoel Theatre, which is quite a contrast to her R&B style while Indigo graced a pian. Diane Micallef appeared solo in her recording studio, without her ever-present band Corkskrew and Nadine Axisa was transformed into a rock chick in a rehearsal garage. Ali and Lis are no strangers to TV, but the RED set is not their usual location while Fiona had a blues theme in Poxx Bar. Erika Rossignaud was the last to see her picture and her delighted surprise was obvious to all. She also features on the J&B Party Planner 2005 which forms part of the calendar.

Paul Bonnici of Paolo Bonnici Ltd, sole importers of J&B Rare Scotch Whisky, thanked the singers and supporters of the calendar. Expert photography was done by Kevin Casha while production was in the hands of Universal Publicity Services. Clothes for the photo shoots were provided by Extyn while Diane Nikolic took care of make up and Toni & Guy Hilton Malta did the hair styles.

The musical part of the evening kicked off with performances by each of the singers, culminating with Corkskrew on stage playing tracks from their brand new CD No Ordinary Maybe. A J&B party night was also in full swing with prizes at the bar, ably distributed by the J&B hostesses.

Copies of the calendar are still available from Paolo Bonnici Ltd on 2560 2217 or from The Bottle Vault at St Andrews.
