HSBC Staff organise treat for disadvantaged children

Malta Independent Thursday, 30 December 2004, 00:00 Last update: about 11 years ago

HSBC staff members from the Bank’s wealth management department organised an outing to Buskett for approximately 50 underprivileged children who are being cared for by the Missionaries of Charity.

In order to organise the event, the staff members made a collection which was then doubled by the HSBC Cares For Children Fund through the lira for lira scheme. Following the event the staff presented a Lm250 donation to the Missionaries of Charity.

During their visit to Buskett, the children not only had the opportunity to enjoy the scenery and fresh air but also enjoyed a packed entertainment programme organised by the Buskett Road House.

Andrew Jamieson and Maria Baldacchino from the Wealth Management Office were the lead organisers of this successful event. Other organisers included Paul Caruana, Charles Pace and Alison Micallef.

“I am sure that all the children had a really enjoyable morning at Buskett.

I would like to thank all those staff members who took this initiative and the HSBC Cares For Children Fund for supporting our efforts. HSBC has always been active in helping underprivileged children but I think it is also important that staff also take their own initiative in implementing the Bank’s corporate social responsibility,” said HSBC’s head of wealth management, Martin Scicluna.
