Rezidor SAS Hospitality received the Worldwide Hospitality Award for Environmental Protection and Sustainable Development at a ceremony in Paris.

Rezidor SAS, the international multi-brand

hospitality management company was rewarded for its “strategic group-wide approach to change mentalities and practices in favour of improved environmental and social performance”.

Since its inception in 2001, Rezidor SAS’ Responsible Business Programme has seen success in a number of environmental and social issues throughout the group.

In September 2004, over 100 Radisson SAS, Park Inn and Country Inn hotels participated in the global Hotels Environment Action Month, with activities ranging from Clean Up the World campaigns, environmental art competitions, and money-raising for local charitable organisations.

Environmental & social affairs corporate director Pia Heidenmark-Cook, said: “The Worldwide Hospitality Award is a wonderful recognition of our hotels’ hard work in implementing good environmental and social practices in everyday work. Our Responsible Business programme has led to an increased awareness about social and environmental issues, and also a pride among our employees who are aware that we actively work with these issues.”

Radisson SAS Bay Point Resort Malta, which operates under the franchise of Rezidor SAS under the Radisson SAS flag, is firmly committed to the same environmental values expounded by the global chain.

The property operates a 25 point environmental plan on a daily basis and participates actively in a number of community initiatives locally. General manager Raphael Cauchi said: “Our commitment to creating a synergy between economic growth and environmental protection is reflected in the daily operations of our property. Through this

commitment we are actively contributing to the improvement of the local environment and to the country’s sustainable development, by directly contributing to the tourism industry.”
