The House of Representatives yesterday spent some time honouring the father of MP Jason Azzopardi, who died earlier yesterday.

Deputy Prime Minister Tonio Borg paid homage to his courage which he showed by going to watch his son play in the MPs “national” team against a team of Austrian MPs.

Mr Azzopardi’s wife had died young, Dr Borg added, and he had brought up Jason and his brother on his own.

Mr Azzopardi’s funeral will be held at Christ the King Parish Church in Paola today at 2.30pm.

Leader of the Opposition Alfred Sant and the Speaker joined in the condolences.
