60 Second Interview - Simon De Marco

Simon de Marco needs no introduction for theatregoers for whom he has provided much enjoyment on the stage time and again. His theatrical credits include Royal Hunt Of The Sun, playing 'Fyedka' in Fiddler On The Roof, 'Brother' in Joseph & The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, 'Hero' in Forum, 'Billie' in Anything Goes, 'Venticello' in Amadeus, a part in Chicago and 'Canon Throbbing' in Habeas Corpus.

He was also the lead dancer with the Alison White Dance Troupe for a number of years. Dance credits include Gensna, Guardian Of The Light, Romeo & Juliet, Aïda, Moulin Rouge and Christus.

As a choreographer, credits include the pantos Tarzan and Robin Hood and the musicals South Pacific and Kiss Me Kate.

Simon is currently playing 'André' in the TV very soapy soap Dejjem tieghek Becky.

He is presently busy rehearsing for MADC’s latest production, Alan Ayckbourn's Time Of My Life directed by Nanette Brimmer which will take place at the Manoel Theatre next weekend: 8, 9 and 10 April in which he will be playing the part of Adam Stratton.

39. Virgo. 19 September 1965.

Yes. No. Does a pet cat named Toffee count?

n What would you like to be doing in 10 years’ time?

Pretty much the same stuff I do now – Maybe at a slower pace!

n What is your idea of perfect happiness?

If I ever find it, I’ll tell you!

n What is your favourite occupation?

Listening to music.

n What is your greatest fear?

Cheese!

n What is it that you most value in your friends?

Their support.

n How would you like to die?

In my sleep.

n What is your greatest extravagance?

2,000 plus CDs. Though not acquired all in one go!

n What is your greatest regret?

Not having gone to theatre school in London.

n What is your most treasured possession?

My health. I do not treasure material things.

n Which talent would you most like to have apart from the ones you already have?

Playing the piano.

n What do you regard as the lowest depth of

misery?

Just as I have not discovered perfect happiness, I have yet to experience the

lowest depth of misery. And, being a positive thinker, I doubt I ever will.

n Where would you like to live?

I am fine with Malta, notwithstanding its shortcomings.

n What is your most marked characteristic?

Being a perfectionist.

n Who are your heroes/heroines in real life?

The above mentioned Toffee! Humans are too flawed to be heroes.

n What is it that you most dislike?

Ignorance.

n What is your motto?

Live each day to the full, doing the things you enjoy doing.
