A 41-year-old man died after he was severely injured in an accident, which occurred while he was carrying out works on a lift on Friday afternoon.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the lift collapsed as he was working on it, and he was trapped in a wedge between the lift and shaft’s wall.
The incident occurred in Chicken’s Street, Tal-Handaq.
Members of the Civil Protection were called to get the man out. He was rushed to St Luke’s Hospital by ambulance and was certified to be suffering from life-threatening injuries.
On duty Magistrate Dr Miriam Hayman was informed and appointed various experts to assist her in the inquiry.
Qormi District Police are leading the investigations.
