On 23 May, IMAX Theatre will be launching its latest IMAX movie, Cirque du Soleil’s Journey of Man. This film, with its artistry, colour and music, promises to be the most popular of all the IMAX films shown so far in Malta.

The World-famous Cirque du Soleil is an actual human circus which was founded in the 1980s in Quebec, Canada.

This circus does not use animals in captivity for its shows and excels in creatively combining circus arts, dance, music and spectacular imagery.

For the production of this movie, the company took the artists away from the “big top” (their actual circus) to work in fantastic locations around the world.

Audiences will be thrilled with acts set against backdrops varying from the deserts of Nevada to the deep oceans in the Bahamas and the dense redwood forests in Boulder Creek, California.

The Journey of Man starts by expounding the big bang theory and the birth of man on Earth. It then goes on to explain the different stages of life (childhood, youth, adulthood, mature adult and maturity) with unique performances by the Cirque du Soleil crew.

Sarah Hodgson, fresh from Paris, where she works on Cirque’s production team, will deliver a brief presentation talk on Wednesday, 18 at 8pm at the IMAX Theatre, before the screening of the film.

Cirque du Soleil’s Journey of Man is a celebration of the human spirit through the exaltation of the human body – an IMAX experience not to be missed!
