HSBC Bank Malta plc has entered into a major sponsorship agreement with the Trade Fairs Corporation. The sponsorship will help the corporation cover the costs of a series of concerts celebrating its 50th anniversary. The concerts include the staging of Carmina Burana at the Mediterranean Conference Centre over this weekend and concerts taking place in September: A Night With Lloyd Webber.

“HSBC is proud to be the main sponsor of the Trade Fairs Corporation’s 50th anniversary celebrations. Over the past half century, the corporation has played a very important role in the development of Malta’s business community and has always organised high standard events which showcase the best that Malta’s economy has to offer. Half a century of success is certainly something to be proud of and to celebrate. HSBC has no doubt that the Trade Fairs Corporation will continue to go from strength to strength, something which will benefit everyone who lives and works in Malta,” said HSBC Bank Malta chief executive officer Shaun Wallis.

Malta Trade Fairs Corporation’s main celebration of its 50th anniversary will take place on 6 and 7 September, when Julian Lloyd Webber will present A Night With Lloyd Webber. This concert, featuring the National Orchestra, will be held at the Mediterranean Conference Centre and will feature some of the best known music composed by Andrew Lloyd Weber from the renowned musicals, Cats, Jesus Christ Superstar and The Phantom of the Opera.

“The Trade Fairs Corporation wanted to celebrate a remarkable 50 years of success with something special,” said corporation president Joseph J. Mifsud.

“Andrew Lloyd Webber’s music appeals to everyone and I am certain that the concerts in September, which will be presented by Julian Lloyd Webber, will prove a great success. Organising this event, as well as the Carmina Burana this weekend, is a very expensive undertaking and on behalf of the Trade Fairs Corporation I wish to express our heartfelt thanks to HSBC for this large sponsorship, which has made all this possible,” he said.
