Bank of Valletta is sponsoring a watercolour exhibition by Joseph Sammut on the theme, Malta & Gozo – Views and Hues. Also being launched concurrently with the exhibition is a publication containing full-colour reproductions of the 68 works of art being exhibited. Mr Sammut will be donating the proceeds from the sale of his works of art to Dar tal-Providenza.
The bank’s sponsorship was presented by Michael Galea, head of PR and corporate branding. Speaking during the presentation, Mr Galea augured Mr Sammut every success. “Bank of Valletta regularly supports Maltese artists in line with its commitment to be a leading patron of arts and culture in Malta. Our aim is to contribute towards Maltese artists’ success since we appreciate that the promotion of the arts contributes towards the overall positive development of the communities in which we operate,” said Mr Galea.
Mr Sammut thanked Bank of Valletta for its support. “This exhibition and publication will mark the 10th anniversary of the Ombudsman institution. Through my exploration of the local urban and rural areas, I have come up with a collection of picturesque spots, whose beauty is sometimes ignored and taken for granted. The exhibition and publication aim to heighten the appreciation of our islands,” concluded Mr Sammut.
The exhibition depicts 68 specific sites in Malta and Gozo as seen through the eyes of the artist and is being inaugurated by Dr Mario Tabone, chairman of Heritage Malta on Friday, 20 May at the Malta Heritage Head Office in Valletta together with the launch of the 156 page publication with a foreword by art critic Chev. Emmanuel Fiorentino. Art critic E.V. Borg is the curator of the exhibition.
