Malta Independent Sunday, 5 June 2005, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

Advanced Industrial Systems Ltd (AIS), the leading biometric company in Malta, announced the release of its latest version of the HandIT Server Communication Software.

Over the last decade AIS has worked closely with Recognition Systems, Inc., of the USA which is a worldwide leader in biometric access control, time and attendance, and personal identification products. Biometric devices are electronic means of measuring unique characteristics or actions of a person, and are used to identify, or verify, the identity of an individual.

This software is an improved version of the highly successful HandIT Server Software which incorporates a Windows user-friendly interface and has been field-tested in over 150 installations. The software developed by AIS is specifically engineered for RSI hand and finger recognition terminals and communicates with all RSI HandPunch, HandKey, and FingerKey models.

One of the many improvements in this latest version features real-time data collection and regularly back up biometric information from every individual biometric terminal on the network.

The HITS Software collects data from readers and automatically updates the required data into third party ODBC databases easily interfacing RSI reader networks with existing information systems. Polling of readers on the network can be done automatically either on a daily schedule or with a user selected number of seconds’ interval. The software supports three communication methods – Direct, through a Modem or through Ethernet.

The HITS Software shows the status of the HandReader network including any repair, maintenance and new enrolment alert messages It allows creation of employee groups with a list of authorised sites and also the segregation of certain groups’ data from that of others.

Through HITS an employee can be assigned a group, his/her authority, time zones and reject thresholds. Both in and out punches together with other transactions are shown.

These features along with a large number of others give enormous benefits to the users while supporting the HandReader system.
