Quick Keno – New game from Maltco Lotteries

Malta Independent Monday, 6 June 2005, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

Maltco Lotteries Limited has launched a new game of “non-stop fun” known as Quick Keno, which is available from Maltco's authorised agents.

It is believed that Keno originated in 200 BC in China, but was officially launched in Nevada, USA, in 1931 before spreading to the rest of the United States, Australia and now Europe.

It is a game of pre-defined winnings which is played using a field of numbers from one to 80. Every five minutes, at pre-defined times, 20 winning numbers are randomly drawn. To participate, a player chooses from one up to 10 numbers and wins when some or all selected numbers match with the drawn results.

The more numbers are matched, the more is the winning amount. The stakes are as low as 10 cents per column.

Winners can also play the ‘Hi and Low game’ – trying to guess whether 13 of the 20 numbers drawn will be between one and 40 (low) or between 41 and 80 (hi).

Apart from lotto booths, the game is available from a number of bars, cafeterias and other establishments.
