The ‘Vodafone Cares For Your Heart’ campaign has been extended following the positive response from the public.

Since the launch of this heart care awareness campaign by Vodafone and Saint James Hospital, over 150 people have taken advantage of Vodafone’s offer to pay Lm35 towards the cost of a heart scan at the hospital.

Through an agreement with Saint James Hospital, which has recently started operating a fully-fledged cardiac care unit, Vodafone customers can have their heart scanned for a discounted price of Lm45. “The campaign was so successful that Vodafone and Saint James Hospital will be gladly extending the offer,” said Claude Muscat Doublesin, executive with Vodafone Malta.

“Vodafone’s customer care commitment is not only about being a quality mobile telephony service provider, it also aims to raise awareness about important day to day issues, of which heart care is one,” he emphasised.

Saint James Hospital Director Jean Claude Muscat commented on the Group’s satisfaction with the result of the campaign. “Following a heavy investment in state of the art equipment, Saint James Hospital is now the only private health care organisation in Malta to offer an all inclusive cardiac treatment unit.”

Mr Muscat added: “Individuals from all walks of life are exposed to the risk of suffering a heart attack.” He continued by highlighting the fact that “85 per cent of sudden heart attacks can be prevented if the conditions leading to it are diagnosed early enough to be treated. Saint James Hospital has always aimed to deliver excellent service and we believe that this new investment is another milestone in the history of our operations.”

Every year the main cause of death in Malta is cardiac disease. Over 33 per cent of all patients who have a heart attack each year show no symptoms beforehand. Forty-five per cent of women who have such attacks die within the subsequent year.

Vodafone subscribers can continue to benefit from the extended campaign by booking a heart scan at Saint James Hospital on 2169 2002 or 2169 2055.
