Malta Independent Monday, 20 June 2005, 00:00 Last update: about 11 years ago

Bank of Valletta has introduced enhanced features to its Cashlink Visa card – the bank’s international debit card. The BOV Cashlink Visa is linked to BOV savings and/or current accounts and can be used not only in Malta but also world-wide at any ATM and EPOS displaying the Visa sign. The card can also be used for purchases made on the internet and a local purchase protection insurance is also linked to this card.

The BOV Cashlink Visa is a straightforward and efficient means of payment, particularly when one is travelling. BOV announced that, with immediate effect, it is enhancing the daily applicable spending limits on this type of card. These are being increased from Lm200 to Lm300 daily for cash advances and from Lm300 to Lm600 daily for point of sale transactions.

The bank also announced that it is reducing the annual fee for this card from Lm7 to Lm5 on a permanent basis. No government levy is applicable on the BOV Cashlink Visa. An added value benefit is that BOV Cashlink Visa cardholders receive a monthly statement on the primary account linked to the card.

Apart from the above added value benefits, Bank of Valletta is also announcing a promotional offer whereby clients applying for a new BOV Cashlink Visa Card before 31 August will enjoy a reduced card fee of Lm3 instead of Lm5 for the first year. During this period, existing BOV Visa Classic and MasterCard Classic Cardholders can take up the BOV Cashlink Visa Card for a reduced fee of Lm2 instead of Lm5 for the first year.

In addition, customers whose BOV Cashlink Visa Card application form is accepted and approved during the offer period will be given a free a travel neck wallet. This offer is available while stocks last.

“These new features and benefits are directed at offering added value and making the BOV Cashlink Visa more attractive and supportive to our customers’ needs,” said Bank of Valletta chief officer, credit, John Soler. “They also form part of the bank’s drive to promote means of payments that offer added value to customers. Indeed, the BOV Cashlink Visa Card is an ideal card product and an efficient payment card which gives customers access to their current or savings accounts not only in Malta but also when they are travelling abroad both for leisure or business purposes.

“Customers today are increasingly appreciative of the advantages of using plastic money to pay for goods and services.

“Plastic money is safe and secure because it avoids the need to carry large amounts of cash and it allows the user to access his money and his accounts from practically anywhere in the world,” Mr Soler concluded.
