Bank of Valletta has recently appointed John Pollacco as head of its card services set up.
Mr Pollacco started his career at Bank of Valletta in 1973 and was involved in the bank’s first computerisation process, the introduction of the direct credits and debits system, and BOV’s PC banking. In 1993 he was posted at the bank's business development department with very close contacts with the business community until 2003, where he was instrumental in the setting up of the bank's representative office in Tripoli, Libya. He was appointed the first representative office manager in Tripoli, a post he held until his recent appointment as head to card services.
From 1998 to 2000, Mr Pollacco was a director on the board of METCO as representative of its user client base and was also very active with EICC, now Malta Enterprise.
In his new role as head of card services, he is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to promote the bank's card business.
His focus is on providing customers with a complete service relating to cards. He is also responsible for managing the bank’s business relationship with Visa, MasterCard and other card providers.
