Jurgen Fischer, president of Hilton International Europe and Africa and Scandic Hotels, and Giuseppe Garraffo, chief executive officer of Euro Costruzioni S.p.a., have recently signed an agreement to raise both the Hilton and the Scandic by Hilton flags in Sicily, Italy.
These properties, namely the Hilton Portorosa and the Scandic by Hilton Siracusa, constitute the start up of a chain of hotels managed by G. Tourist S.r.l., which will also include two other properties in Lugano and Palermo earmarked for the Scandic by Hilton mark and another five star property in central Catania earmarked for the Hilton banner.
M & E Management Group, whose administrative office is based in Malta, has managed to secure the highly prized marketing consultancy contract for these fine hotels in the last weeks. Both the owners and operators of the hotel chain signed the marketing contract for the Hilton and Scandic by Hilton hotels. M & E Management Group is not new to international marketing consultancy contracts due to the Group’s proven track record abroad and also due to its offices in London, Edinburgh and Dubai.
The Group CEO, Dr Massimo J. Ellul, stated that this contract was very much sought after due to its being an international yardstick for a Maltese firm to be fully assessed as a professional marketing and management consultancy operation competing with renowned international companies specialising in this sector. Intensive meetings and delegations between the interested parties were conducted throughout the course of the first half of this year, while logistical and support services were coordinated by the Group general manager, Mr John Grima, in liaison with the Group head of sales, Sicily region, Mr Eric Sacco.
M & E Management Group has been offering specialised consultancy services in the tourism and hotel industry for the past eleven years and this new project has been described by Dr Ellul as a very important milestone in the Group’s corporate targets for this year.

Scandic by Hilton Siracusa features 82 rooms and is situated in the heart of the city’s historical centre, within walking distance of the ancient Archeological Park of Neapolis, the Dyonisian Ear, the Catacombs of San Giovanni, the Archeological Museum and the Papyrus Museum. The world famous Sanctuary of La Madonna delle Lacrime is also a stone’s throw away, while the fascinating Origia peninsula is just 1.5 kilometres away.
