BOV Executives in leadership programme

Malta Independent Saturday, 16 July 2005, 00:00 Last update: about 11 years ago

Professor Michael Jarrett, an Associate of the London Business School, was the lead consultant during a two-day executive development programme for BOV executives organised by the Bank’s Training and Consultancy Unit. The two-day strategic leadership development programme was attended by BOV’s executive team led by chairman, Roderick Chalmers, and chief executive officer, Tonio Depasquale.

Addressing BOV’s executives, Prof. Jarrett said that establishing direction, aligning people and motivating the staff are the foundations of effective leadership. “Leadership, as opposed to management, produces change, often to a dramatic degree and has the potential to help make a firm more competitive. A feasible, focused and flexible approach creates better performance through customer and productivity-orientated behaviour, more and better leadership and more effective management,” he said. Prof. Jarrett’s research interests include top teams, strategic organisational learning and the difficulties of change management. The high profile programme delivered by Prof. Jarrett was customised to BOV’s requirements and aligned to an extensive training design exercise. The programme was designed to enhance the executive leadership skills of BOV Executives, in line with continuous professional development. It also focused on key organisational development issues, leading to corporate action planning.
