Pamela For Golden Stag Festival

Malta Independent Saturday, 30 July 2005, 00:00 Last update: about 21 years ago

Pamela has released a new musical video of the song Play On as well as a new CD single When All is Gone. The launch of the video and the CD single took place at The Edge Club in Paceville. Pamela will be representing Malta at the Golden Stag Festival in Romania with this same Play On video and song, When All is Gone, this September.

After Malta’s success at the 14th Golden Stag Festival last year – thanks to singer Eleanor, who was the overall winner of the festival together, with composer Paul Giordimaina and author Fleur Balzan – this team will be present with their songs for the third consecutive year and this time they have chosen young Gozitan singer Pamela to represent their songs.

The difference at the Golden Stag Festival this year is that, whereas previously the singer had to present an original song from her own repertoire as well as a Romanian composition adapted and rearranged by the Maltese team, a new section for a musical video has been introduced. With this in mind, and because of the special significance the song Play On has for the team, it was decided that this was to be the song for the musical video section, while a new song was written specially for Pamela to sing during the interpretation section.

The Golden Stag is considered the second largest festival after the Eurovision and in the past has seen the likes of Christina Aguilera taking part. This year another great singer will be competing for her country, Italy and this is none other that Linda, who in 2004 came third in the Festival di Sanremo and who, more recently, was seen on Rai TV on the reality programme Music Farm.

The Golden Stag is also well known for the special guests who are invited every year. In previous years these have included Ricky Martin, Tom Jones, Diana Ross, Kenny Rogers, Ray Charles, Pink and Sheryl Crow. This year it will be none other than Joe Cocker who will give a two-hour concert on the same Golden Stag Stage.

The Golden Stag Festival will be shown directly on satellite channel TVRi on the 21, 22, 23 and 24 September.
