Gaseous Fire suppression systems

Malta Independent Thursday, 4 August 2005, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

Fire Tech Ltd of San Gwann has just held an information meeting on the applications, benefits and safety behind gaseous fire suppression systems.

The meeting was organised with the technical support of Fike Corporation through their European regional office, namely Fike Protection Systems Ltd of the UK. The engineering sales representative, Nigel James, as well as the sales technical support engineer, Ray Jennings, gave a detailed insight into the advantages of gaseous systems over traditional water systems wherever computers and communications equipment are involved.

Their emphasis was directed to the business community, whereby the simple question put forward to any business entity in any activity is “What sort of down time can your organisation afford and at what cost can you prevent it?”

Typically Fike have not only been at the forefront in the development of a direct-swap gas to replace the banned Halon gas, (namely through the ECARO 25 suppression system), but Fike also provide innovative and tailor made solutions for different clients with varying requirements. The engineered solutions Fike can provide their customers with include other gaseous agents such as ProInert, which is an inert gaseous mixture of Argon and Nitrogen as well as HFC-227ea, which is commonly known as FM-200.

The meeting was aimed to reach the various interested parties in this specific line of fire protection including engineering consultants and architects, insurance companies, as well as computer and communications companies.
