Weekend Entertainment for Valletta Waterfront Patrons

Malta Independent Sunday, 21 August 2005, 00:00 Last update: about 20 years ago

Visitors to Valletta Waterfront, and those dining at one of the restaurants along Pinto Wharf, can now enjoy a series of themed nights designed to entertain and to enhance the atmosphere along the laguna’s edge. The entertainment titled “Nights Under the Stars” will run every weekend, except on specific occasions when other events are taking place, until the beginning of October.

Starting on Thursday evenings, Nights Under the Stars begin with a ‘Maltese Night’, which include a 12-piece village brass band, a duo of strolling musicians roaming from table to table and a troupe of folklore dancers.

On Friday nights patrons can enjoy Jazz and Blues music, featuring the Joe Debono trio.

On Saturdays it’s ‘Catch the Rhythm’ night with a couple of musicians playing latino tunes and other background music together with spectacular and colourful performances by Keith and Joanne, the Maltese ballroom dancing champions.

On the last day, Sundays, a varied repertoire of music featuring songs that appeal to different generations, are all performed “live” by the versatile popular singer Nadine Axisa and her band.

“Valletta Waterfront is now up and running; shops and restaurants have opened and an impressive number of cultural and artistic events are taking place. This new series of themed nights adds to the attraction of the Waterfront, providing patrons with some light entertainment as they enjoy an al fresco meal or a stroll along the laguna’s edge,” said Chris Falzon, Chief Executive Officer at VISET, operators of Valletta Waterfront.
